Campsite Reviews

I’m back

What an amazing summer we’ve had! I made a promise to myself to go backwards and post all the fun stuff we’ve done.

This weekend, we are at Yogi Bear Jellystone Campground Lazy River in Gardiner, NY. This is our third time here and we love it! It has so much for the kids and fun for the adults too.

This is actually the place where the infamous “don’t use a stick” story occurred. 🙄

(Click above if you haven’t read that gem of a story.)

It was also the place where we were headed to last year with our Bougie Camper Friends where they blew out a tire and ripped off their sewer line.

Ugh…right? Well we convinced them to come with us anyway and he and I went under the camper and rigged up a duct tape/solo cup solution to save the weekend.

Anyway…

Yogi Bear Lazy River is great. They have an amazing splash pad, two pools, two jumping pillows and mini golf, standard.

There are four playgrounds that I counted driving around. (In the golf cart we rented for the weekend 💁🏼‍♀️.) There is a dog park for your furry friends, a tiki bar with ice cream, drinks for kids, adults (read: alcohol) and FOOD! (Nothing for my gluten free friends though, sadly.) There are multiple places to fish, and they rent kayaks for the “lazy river” which is the body of water that backs up our camper. (See below)

There are so many other activities going on. Even in the rain! You can check their website for what’s going on the weekend you are planning on coming.

Last night, the kids did laser tag. They had a BLAST! After they did the 5:00 one, they signed up AGAIN for the 8:00 one that involves glow sticks and fog. Sadly, due to weather, it was canceled. Maybe tonight…

It was $5 for the 5, 6 and 7 pm games and $10 for the 8 & 9 pm (ages 8+) games. Make sure you bring your sneakers, or you will have some sad kids.

We are staying at the sites on the river. The last two times we couldn’t go into river because of contamination. This time they said it’s ok, but it’s just not in our plans.

(Those aren’t our campers, but it shows you how they are lined up.)

The campground is big. We’re pretty close to all the action. There’s sites by the pool that are paved, and those are a nice size. There’s another non-paved side by the pool where they don’t have much room between sites. There’s a hill side that has sites with a lot more room (and some seasonals) but, they’re not too close. There’s also a LOT of cabins…ones near the river, ones one the hill, and ones by the pool action.

There’s also more than one house you can rent for a big group!

We had a fun time at the DJ party last night. They have an rec center by the pool that they do a lot of activities in.

By our site, there’s a big open field where parachuters can land (we heard about 3 times a week) and the kids LOVED it. The kids also play games there when we visit.

There are clean comfort stations for everyone to use. They do a nice job keeping everything clean here.

The store has a lot of things you could need if you forget them at home. (Although not a universal remote, because for ONCE I actually left something at home…) and some 3X tee shirts that are perfect for Bougie Daddy. (Who henceforth would like to be referred to as the “overweight adventurer” 😂)

This entire getup was purchased at the store. 👍🏼 (hat, sunglasses and shirt)

They have day passes available if you aren’t staying here. It didn’t seem too crowded at the public areas although the campground itself seemed PACKED while we drove through.

In the past, we’ve had the ability to do late checkout where they allow you to stay until 5 or 6 (I forget now) the last day of your stay for $25 extra. Sadly, our sites will be used when we leave so we can’t do it this time.

Yogi Bear Lazy River is a great family campground and we continue to return year after year. This is the third Yogi Campground we’ve visited and definitely our favorite of the three.

Feel free to ask questions in the comments below if you’re thinking about visiting.
